Wafia To Headline TikTok Float At Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade

Australian homegrown pop sensation Wafia will take to the stage as part of the TikTok float during this year’s Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.

Wafia

This will be Wafia’s first time performing on home soil since the beginning of the pandemic as she currently resides in Los Angeles. Wafia will join a line-up of trailblazing LGBTQIA+ TikTok creators, uniting in the name of pride for Sydney’s night of nights.

Wafia will perform her track ‘I’m Good’ – a song which has been streamed more than 36 million times on Spotify, and soundtracked more than 44,000 videos on TikTok, often featuring in them as a pride anthem. It’s also this year’s sound for TikTok’s 2022 #MardiGras challenge.

“I couldn't be more excited to be heading home to Australia to join the TikTok float at this year's Mardi Gras parade. It feels amazing for my song 'I'm Good' to have been embraced by the queer community, especially at home, and it's such an honour and a privilege to be able to perform as part of such a special night. This will be my first Mardi Gras, and what a way to kick things off. I can't wait!”

Floating alongside Wafia will be other members of TikTok’s LGBTQIA+ creator community, like @nat.alise, a single mum who came out as bisexual on TikTok last year, @rainbowhistoryclass (aka Rudy and Hannah) who educate the TikTok community with queer and trans history lessons, and @carlafrombankstown, a comedy queen from the south western suburbs of Sydney.

Also, for the second year, TikTok is giving Aussies – and people around the world – the opportunity to celebrate Mardi Gras. There’ll be an in-app #MardiGras Hub, and a livestream from the Parade, as well as the #MardiGras hashtag challenge which will see creators of the best, most creative videos winning double passes to the Parade on 5 March.

Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade takes place at Sydney Cricket Ground on 5 March.
