'Seasoned' is a showcase of Christine's strong writing and musical imagination – her aim is to take listeners of her work through a journey of all the feels, peeling back the layers of everyday problems and human experiences.

'Seasoned' is no exception to this.

The track is about the early stages of a relationship, when one person is willing to give their all and the other still has their guard up.

Here, Christine pens an open letter about the new single 'Seasoned'.

“'Seasoned' to me is about the patterned and cyclical nature in relationships I’ve experienced over the years. The song focuses on a particular relationship in which I felt a lot of resistance from the other person to open up and let themselves openly feel and not worry about all these little external 'what ifs'. I was wanting to give more of myself while the other person was shrouded in apprehension and insecurity. The song is about the willingness and patience I felt and wanting nothing more than for the other person to feel comfortable and eventually arrive on the same page. I was willing to put in the work, the time, and the feelings to try to see where things could go, but they weren’t. In the end it was a short-lived fling that followed this chronological pattern I had been noticing with almost all of my relationships, as if there were some mold on a timetable that each fit into perfectly.

The title itself has sort of a two-fold meaning, one literal and one a little more metaphoric. The literal significance is that the relationship behaviours in the pattern I had been noticing fell along the exact same seasons in the calendar year each time. The other analogy is that with all these trials, it would not be surprising if one became weathered from experiencing such similar disappointments over and over again. However, I choose to think of each experience as stepping stones to figure out ways to improve and hopefully not make the same mistakes again – that I am more 'seasoned' for having gone through them.

I hope people will be able to relate to the track in its sort of melancholy yet hopeful nature. It was written from a stance of fearful confidence – trying really hard to look brave and like everything was going to work out when in fact you can see the foundation really isn’t there to support a happy ending. Like when you’re smiling and laughing on a rollercoaster but you’re voice is shaky and you’re sh.tting your pants at the same time. I think that’s a feeling we’ve all had before."

'Seasoned' is out now.
