The title is a play on the popular meme ‘LGBT = let’s get bubble tea’, and the track is a nod to Dyan’s Asian culture – paying tribute to Asian mums worldwide.

“’LGBT!’ is a tongue-in-cheek take on my awkward coming-out story,” Dyan says. “I remember asking mum about Queer people when I was little. Like most Chinese parents, she changed the conversation because we don't like to talk about uncomfortable things.”

The track has already made waves at this year’s Gaytimes Festival, in Victoria.

“When I started my set at Gaytimes, there were hardly five people in the audience but by the end of my set, the tent was packed! Literally, no one had heard ‘LGBT!’ before but everyone was singing along to it.”

The video is a visual feast, directed by Audley Anderson and lensed by Bryon Martin. In it, Dyan embodies a Bubble Tea Heiress within a larger-than-life boba wonderland – a testament to their ‘California Gurls’ and ‘Pink Friday’ fantasy.

From humble beginnings in Malaysia, the self-described Gaysian Empress Of Sydney was named as one of the outstanding acts to watch at the 2023 BIGSOUND by NME, plus, they were endorsed for their unique sound design by industry heavyweight Flume.

Dyan is set to embark on a nationwide tour soon, to bring ‘Let’s Get Bubble Tea!’ to stages across Australia.
