The album sees Alex documenting the complexities of life and her strength as a songwriter, magnified by her sense of empathy, and embracing a new level of emotional transparency.

‘How To Grow A Sunflower Underwater’ features ‘Octopus’, ‘Haircut’, ‘Growing Up’, ‘Airport’, and the brand-new single ‘Ride My Bike’. Alex has just released the music video to the latter.

‘Ride My Bike’ is about coming to terms with the end of a relationship, and how you can move forward with what you’ve learnt from someone else.

“It’s also about hating the gym, riding your bike, and trying to do a lot of different exercise and activities to try and distract yourself from a breakup,” Alex adds.

The music video features footage Alex shot on a drone in Iceland, Copenhagen, London, and Brighton Pier in England, as well as Sydney and Gordon’s Bay.

Alex is taking the new album on tour, playing ten full-band headline shows in her first national tour in almost four years. She’ll have support from Tasman Keith, Charlie Collins, Mal De Mer, Apricot Ink, Medhanit, GeorgiaxByrne, Jacob Diamond, and Bermuda Bay around the country.

‘How To Grow A Sunflower Underwater’ is out now.
