The event, which will be a show of support and celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community, will take centre stage as the grand finale of the 2025 festival. Uniting Pride choirs from across Australia and New Zealand, Melt Festival will culminate in a spectacular performance of song.
Individual voices are welcomed, whether you’re part of a choir or just someone who loves to sing!
A pop-up performance a day before the official event will provide a tasty morsel of what’s to come, on one of Brisbane’s bridges during the River Pride Parade.
Leading this historic occasion is Adam Majsay, Music Director of the Sydney Gay And Lesbian Choir.
“There’s nothing quite like the sound of hundreds of voices rising as one — it lifts the spirit, opens the heart, and reminds us what true family feels like. I’ve had the privilege of leading large-scale choral projects that centre inclusion and visibility, and I’ve seen first-hand how music welcomes people in,” Adam says.
“‘1000 Voices’ at Melt Festival will be more than a performance — it will be a powerful moment of connection for LGBTQIA+ singers, allies, and anyone who simply loves to sing.” Adam continues. “Whether you’re part of a choir or stepping into something like this for the first time, there’s a place for you in this sound. And what a sound it will be — joyful, bold, and unapologetically full of pride.”

“I’m personally so excited to be coming to Brisbane for this extraordinary event, and I can’t wait to stand together with voices from all over Australia and New Zealand. Come be part of it — lift your voice and help us share in something unforgettable.”
Musical Director of Brisbane Pride Choir, Elliott Rentoul, adds to the excitement.
“The Brisbane Pride Choir is honoured to join singers from Magandjin and beyond in the ‘1000 Voices’ Choir; a powerful celebration of pride, community, and music. Being part of a massed choir is an unforgettable experience — one that amplifies not just our songs, but our shared stories and identities. For us, choir has always been about more than the music—it’s about visibility, solidarity, and creating a space where every voice is valued and heard.”
“There’s something profoundly moving about hearing hundreds of voices coming together in song. It’s not just the sound—it’s the feeling of connection, resilience, and joy that fills the space. These events remind us why we sing: to build community, to tell our stories, and to celebrate who we are.”
Registrations for choirs and individuals is now open.
‘1000 Voices’ is on as part of Melt Festival in Brisbane on 9 November.
