Vivid Sydney 2022 Proudly Presents Its LGBTQIA+ Programme

Vivid Sydney is proudly honouring the city's queer community with a compelling programme of performance, talks and parties featured across Light, Music & Ideas.

Top-Bottom, L-R: Cakes Da Killer, Trevor Ashley, Troye Sivan, Perfume Genius

Global storyteller Troye Sivan reveals his take on beauty, creativity and queer politics, in a live, intimate conversation at Sydney Town Hall. A singer-songwriter, art lover and fashion maverick, Troye will share how he's ridden the wave of success and navigated the vagaries of fame, while using his public profile to challenge notions around masculinity, beauty and gender fluidity.

Emerging hip hop prodigy Cakes Da Killer mixes '90s grit and cadence with high-energy club beats. Cakes will deliver a performance at Oxford Art Factory.

Queer icon of American indie music, Perfume Genius, heads to Carriageworks with his national tour. Singer-songwriter Mike Hadreas fuses tender piano ballads and swaggering glam rock power tunes, to explore personal stories.

After a massive 2021, Wiradjuri-Filipino singer-songwriter Mo’ju steps back into the limelight, presenting audiences at Tumbalong Nights with an exciting free show performing restorative jams and electronica, shaped around family, identity, healing and expression.

Elsewhere, there's the Vivid Sydney Supper Club at Mary's Underground, which will transform the venue into an intimate cabaret club. Trevor Ashley has curated a programme of acclaimed headliners, alongside top-flight jazz, cabaret, burlesque and comedy acts.

A Sydney queer culture mainstay since the '90s is Club Kooky by The Harbour. It has gone from an underground club night, to taking over harbourside events, inner west spaces, and legendary Vivid LIVE parties in the Sydney Opera House Studio. This year's event promises surprises, iconic LGBTQIA+ anthems, special guest performers, amazing visuals, and an inclusive vibe.

The Heaps Gay Qween's Ball at Luna Park invites attendees to don themselves in the most luxurious dress-up an op-shop can provide for a carnival of unearthly delights. Assemble your queer family for the experience of a lifetime.

Queer Sydney: Powerhouse Late x Vivid Ideas celebrates Sydney's LGBTQIA+ community and explores the lineage from the original Mardi Gras 78ers to now. Then, the night comes to an end with Disco Conversion Therapy.
