Sweat With Pride is inspired by the iconic New Zealand initiative, daring participants to move their bodies for 21 minutes a day throughout June. Maybe you’re having a boogie in your living room. . . Walking at lunchtime. . . Wheeling. . . Jogging. . . Stretching. Every bit counts to support programmes which help LGBTQIA+ people feel safe, connected, and celebrated.
“Sweat With Pride is about joyful, collective action,” Em Scott, CEO of Rainbow Giving Australia says. “It’s about expanding what Pride can look like — embracing movement as another powerful way to connect, celebrate, and back the wellbeing of our communities.”
The campaign has been welcomed by community leaders, educators, and professional athletes. LGBTQIA+ Australians are underrepresented in sports, facing ongoing barriers to participation. VicHealth research (2024) shows that only 16.4 per cent of LGBTQIA+ adults in Victoria belong to a sports club. . . And that just over half of LGBTQIA+ young people participate in sport.
“As a queer woman, I advocate for community as an essential foundation for safety, healing, and a stronger connection to ourselves and others,” ambassador Georgia Grace, a sexual wellbeing educator, says. “Sweat With Pride combines these foundations — encouraging us to connect with our bodies through movement and doing it with others.”
“I’m supporting Sweat with Pride so that people all over the country can discover that moving your body doesn’t have to feel like a chore, and that it can be fun, free, and creative,” ambassador, professional sports climber and Olympian Campbell Harrison adds.
Join the movement! Sign up at the Sweat With Pride website, form teams, and choose a drag ‘trainer’ personality to cheer them on throughout the month. There are also incentive prizes like Sweat With Pride socks, pins, tote bags, caps, access to 30 days of Les Mills+ online platform, and the chance to win Les Mills Accelerated Training home sets.
Funds raised from Sweat With Pride 2025 will support the work of ACON, Minus18, and Rainbow Giving Australia.
