The songstress delivers, with a union of delightful and infectious tracks which showcase a more vulnerable and transparent Wafia, including songs such as the titular ‘Good Things’, and ‘Flowers & Superpowers’. The track ‘Pick Me’ (about keeping your priorities straight) has Wafia showing off a more playful side, while ‘Hurricane’ pulls at the heartstrings with its accompanying lyric video, made up of homemade quarantine footage, where she surprises her friends with flowers, love, and most importantly, food!

Chatting to her about the ‘Hurricane’ video she says, “that was my favourite day in isolation, because it gave me an excuse to drive around LA and bring my favourite people the baked goods that I've been spending all my time making.

“I just had to spread that love out, and who better than my friends and my collaborators here. It was such a beautiful day.”

“Fans should expect a more playful and fun side that I've never shared before,” Wafia says of the EP. “I think it's because it’s just who I am now, I've definitely done a lot of growing to get to this point, it's been very deliberate, and it's definitely more fun than anything else I've put out.”

What’s more, Wafia explains, is that the title track ‘Good Things’ was initially destined to be called something else entirely.

“The song ‘Good Things’ was originally titled ‘Enemy’. It was a very deliberate choice to – even in that little act – focus on something positive as opposed to something negative. Something about 'Enemy' didn't sit right with me, it’s too much focus on someone else, and I wanted to only really be representative of how I feel,” she continues, “so I feel like that dictates to me the whole EP, which is about just picking the things that benefit you the best and just making the best of any situation.”

As to what her favourite song on the EP is. . . “You know what? I really cannot say. I think I love each one for different reasons: I love ‘Butterflies’ because that feels so good live, but ‘Hurricane’ and ‘How To Lose A Friend’ are songs about friendship. I love songs about friendship. . . So, I couldn't pick, I really couldn’t pick.”

A queer, Arab, Muslim woman in the music industry, Wafia is a trailblazer, embracing all parts of herself.

“It's not something that I'm constantly thinking about,” she admits. “It's just how I am. I don't know any other way than to be really honest with you guys and really transparent. It's just another part of who I am and part of the story.”

So, does Wafia have a message for O.G fans?

“I hope that they have space in their life for self-love, self-care, picking themselves and making room for good things in their life.”

She teases, “there is more music this year. I’ve been working on an album. So, this is sort of part of that larger body of work, and I'm really excited to share that when it's ready.”

All-in-all, 'Good Things' really is full of good things. Who would have thought?!
