Set to travel to Darwin, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth across two weekends, Summer Camp Festival will welcome headliner, UK synthpop act Years & Years (the moniker of British singer and actor Olly Alexander) whose new album 'Night Call' is due early January.
Olly has had a monster 2021; from his duet with Kylie Minogue, show-stopping performance with Sir Elton John at the Brit Awards, and collaborating with Lady Gaga to his appearance on the award-winning series 'It's A Sin'.
"Hi Australiaaaa, I am so excited to announce I will be headlining Summer Camp Festival in February 2022! Can't wait to see you all for a night call!" Olly says.
Another international arrival to Summer Camp will be American rapper Big Freedia, the CEO of bounce music who appears on the panel in the current season of 'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars'.
Australian sibling duo The Veronicas will make sure no audience member is feeling 'Untouched', while Brisbane dream-pop quartet Cub Sport will have one of their very first opportunities to play material from their 2020 album 'Like Nirvana' to a live audience at Summer Camp.
The music talent doesn't end their either, with New Zealand acts Ladyhawke (whose third album 'Time Flies' is due later this month) and emerging rapper JessB joining party starters Confidence Man, chart-topping producer Young Franco, festival staple Kinder, alt-pop breakout Sycco, and WA/ Darwin born and bred duo The Merindas.
Each city will also have their own smorgasbord of DJs, drag queens, dancers and performance artists.
Kat Dopper (creator of Heaps Gay) and Grant Gillies and David Gillett (creators of Red Mgmt) are the brains behind Summer Camp Festival, a music and art culture playground designed to welcome everyone – no matter who you love, your pronouns, or your star sign.
"Summer Camp Festival is a new inclusive festival experience that accepts all the cuties," Dopper says. "It's a chance to frolic in the forest with pals, dress up, and celebrate the true meaning of pride.
"Love has no labels at Summer Camp – it's a place to call 'homo' this pride season. Let's get sweaty this summer and feel the euphoria of being together and dancing again."
