British pop icon Sophie Ellis-Bextor will headline the Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras Bondi Beach Party.
Sophie, known for her electrifying blend of disco pop and electronica, will bring her sound to the sands of Bondi Beach, joining a stellar line-up of international and local acts. Her career spans across two decades and is marked by unforgettable hits like ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’, ‘Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)’ and ‘Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)’.
Plus, her lasting impact as an artist has been proven through the release of the film ‘Saltburn’, where audiences either re-discovered the iconic ‘Murder On The Dancefloor’, or were even introduced to it for the very first time. The track has climbed back to the top of the charts.
Joining Sophie Ellis-Bextor is a line-up of talents including Slayyyter, and celebrated DJs Jay Jay Revlon, Lagoon Femshaymer, and Corey Craig. Plus there’s local favourites like Tyoow, Mama de Leche and Beth Yen.
“On the eve of our 46th festival, I warmly invite you all to join us in a spirit of unity and togetherness. For the next 17 days, let's embrace the power of our community. We're here to connect, to share, and to envision a bright future together,” Mardi Gras CEO Gil Beckwith says.
“In a world that can sometimes feel overshadowed by darkness, our festival stands as a beacon of light. So, I urge you, come with open hearts and minds, ready to connect, celebrate, and embody the inclusivity that lies at the very core of our community.”
Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras Bondi Beach Party takes place on 24 February.
