MUVA and JUNIPERO are vibrant, queer parties. Each is dedicated to creating a safe haven for the New South Wales queer community to enjoy the dance scene. While JUNIPERO emphasises inclusivity for lesbian, queer women, non-binary and trans individuals, MUVA combines techno music with performance art, providing a safe space for all queer individuals in the region.

'Free To Be Fruity' is a vibrant, multi-genre celebration seeking to reclaim a term – fruity – which has historically been used against the queer community. The celebration will create a welcoming, loving space for all and of course will go hand-in-hand with the 2025 Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras theme: FREE TO BE: “Our [FREE TO BE] theme is about making a statement to embrace and rejoice in our unique individuality as well as our collective identity,” Mardi Gras CEO Gil Beckwith says.
'Free To Be Fruity' is officially a part of the 2025 Mardi Gras programme. This open-access initiative showcases the finest of the Sydney Mardi Gras celebrations within the community.
On Ground Level, JUNIPERO will feature DJs spinning pop music, and up on Level One, MUVA will take charge, showcasing DJs specialising in techno. Meanwhile, up on the rooftop, bring your florals – it'll be transformed into an open-air chill-out space, with a vibrant floral disco theme.
