The new EP marks a bold new chapter for Dyan as a queer, migrant, and avant-garde artist. It was born out of a year of creative exploration, and brings together a stellar line-up of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC collaborators, including Jamaica Moana, BVT, Lupa J, and Hazboy.
Written, produced and mixed by Dyan Tai, the EP delves into shared experiences of loneliness and isolation in marginalised communities. . . And transforms these emotions into a vibrant, alternate musical universe where all are free to be themselves.
The focus track of the EP is ‘Broke Popstar’. It’s a high-energy anthem sampling rare Chinese opera instruments, and, in Dyan’s words, “if MIA made hyperpop in 2025, this is what I imagine it to sound like.” The track offers a tongue-in-cheek take on the realities of independent artistry, featuring dynamic verses from Jamaica Moana and BVT.
Accompanying the track is a music video (co-directed by Audley Anderson and Byron Martin) featuring the artists – broke, brilliant, and five minutes from curtain call. This is an anthem for dreamers doing it on a dime, and the visual throws the viewer into the greenroom meltdown before a gig.
Also featured on the ‘Supreme’ EP is crowd fave ‘Let’s Get Bubble Tea!’, and newer releases ‘hehehaha’ and ‘King Queen Supreme’. There are also a bunch of unreleased tracks like ‘Supreme (Dyan’s Version)’, ‘Dig Bick!’ (featuring Jamaica Moana) and a Hazboy remix of ‘Let’s Get Bubble Tea!’.
‘Supreme’ is out now.
