'Lost Dog' was produced by Lachlan Carrick (Doja Cat, Gotye, Gretta Ray).

It's been three years since Bec's debut album 'Try + Save Me', which spawned singles 'Animal', 'I'll Never Want A BF', 'Eyes Wide' and 'Stranger'.

Now, 'Lost Dog' arrives to herald a new era for the musician. She's worked with the likes of Dave Jenkins Jr, Lucy Taylor, Andy Bull, Geoff Swan, Japanese Wallpaper, Rosie Fitzgerald, Dorny Mayes and Tony Buchen to bring to life a vision of aching beauty, of driving into a sunset, of a chapter's end.

"I was a bit of a lost dog myself, and I also lost my dog. This EP is a snapshot of that time. The goal was to take time and write my best songs to date,” Bec says of the work.

Here, we speak to Bec to find out more about the new EP.

For those new to Bec Sandridge, how would you describe your musical style?
I always say disco, spaghetti, pop or just cock pop-rock, but a bit gay.

What kinds of themes were you considering when putting this EP together?
I think there’s themes of identity, in a sense – the push and pull of self and other, exploring personal boundaries and of course, exploring the corners of love.

You worked with a bunch of renowned musicians on ‘Lost Dog’. What was the creative process like working with them?
I was super lucky! I worked primarily with my pals Dave Jenkins Jr and Lucy Taylor on the writing and recording process and in the later stages Tony Buchen, Gab Strum, Dorny Mayes, Andy Bull and Rosie Fitzgerald etc all jumped in and added some real magic. Most of the process was super organic and we worked out of Dave and Lucy's flat in Clovelly, Australia.

What’s your favourite track on the EP and why?
I go through different phases, but I think at the moment, 'Easy To Go Bad' is my favourite. I like how there’s kind of different movie scenes throughout the song.

Which track was the hardest to put together and why?
I think initially 'Claustrophobia' was the easiest to whack together but we decided to reopen it for surgery and that’s when things seemed a little more difficult. I knew that it needed something but wasn’t entirely sure what! Overall, though, the songs came together pretty organically!

What do you hope people take away when listening to this EP?
I guess, I just hope it’s something that people can soundtrack their day-to-day lives with.

Describe what it’s like to have something you’ve worked so hard on hit people’s ears for the first time.
Horrifying (and exciting). There’s definitely a sense of relief after such a long time of not releasing anything (three years)!
