A collaboration between Absolut and Heaps Gay, The Roast is a chance to join some of Sydney’s most iconic queer talent and raise a glass to your chosen family at one hell of a feast.
The not-so-traditional Sunday feast boasts a stacked line-up of talented queer artists. There’s Sydney-based Mangarai First Nations queen Tyra Bankstown and The Blak Moles, QTBIPOC collective House Of Silky, and music from Paul Mac and Johhny Seymour of Stereogamous and Timothy & The Heart Strings.
Of course, there'll be cocktails from Absolut and the food will be curated by award-winning chef Anna Polyviou.
Together, Heaps Gay and Absolute aim to break the mould on the tradition of nuclear family gatherings, and turn up the heat on an iconic Sunday meal with an unmissable toast to chosen families.
Ahead of the festivities, Absolut’s Chosen Family Portraits sees acclaimed queer editorial photographer Liz Ham documenting some diverse chosen families in the community, and their stories. These portraits will be available to view online and at The Roast on the night.
One hundred per cent of the ticket sales go to supporting AIDS Council Of NSW (ACON), which is Australia’s largest HIV and sexuality and gender diverse health organisation.
The Roast takes place at The Refectory (University Of Sydney) on 6 March.
