That’s where Better Connect+ comes in. A fresh initiative by Queensland Positive People (QPP), proudly supported by the Queensland Government, it’s designed to help people rediscover joy, community, and connection.
Better Connect+ links like-minded individuals to local events, new experiences, and fun activities. The program offers free regular events like weekend yoga and a matinee movie club, alongside group outings to major festivals like Melt and the New Farm Queer Film Festival. In recent months, members have explored art galleries, visited museums, and cheered at international sporting matches together.
Groups are now forming for Brisbane's LGBTQIA+ Melt Festival this October, so if you’re keen to admire the shimmering works of Gerwyn Davies, enjoy a night with Reuben Kaye, or another one of their offerings this year, their team would love to hear from you.

While everyone of all ages are welcome, Better Connect+ is thoughtfully tailored for people over 50, especially those in the LGBTIQA+ community or living with HIV. QPP has been creating inclusive, welcoming spaces since 1989, and this programme is all about shared laughter and genuine friendships.
So, if you’re looking to expand your social circle or just want a reason to get out and try something new, Better Connect+ could be perfect for you.
