As massive fans of the cast and the show, Pop Choir instructors Sharon Stokes and Darryl Moulton have organised a 500-person singing flashmob with members from all over Melbourne. It will take place at Federation Square.
Sharon, Darryl and the Pop Choir members have been rehearsing the smash ‘Larger Than Life’, the opening number performed by Rob Mills (originally by The Backstreet Boys) in all their sessions this term.
“The show ‘& Juliet’ is a breathtakingly good show with such high energy, an amazing storyline, a fabulously talented cast and features such anthemic, upbeat and positive pop songs,” Pop Choir instructor Sharon Stokes says.
“It’s singing, fun for everyone. Singing amazing pop songs and bringing anyone and everyone who loves to sing together each week, and also those who love the feel-good factor of singing with a large group of people and raising their energy!
“Our ethos is if you can speak you can sing and anyone is welcome at Pop Choir. We also love putting on massive Pop Choir experiences, like no other, for our members to enjoy and be a part of like this mega flashmob in Federation Square.”
Pop Choir members from all over Melbourne came together in a local park to rehearse, two weeks ago. In early April, 100 Pop Choir members (along with Sharon and Darryl) went to see ‘& Juliet’. More than 200 other members have seen the show too!
Pop Choir even got the opportunity to meet one of the show’s lead cast members, Rob Mills.
“Rob Mills was so lovely and so humble when meeting us all after the show. Taking the time to ask us all questions about our flashmob and Pop Choir, it was all very exciting!” Darryl says.
“‘& Juliet’ is nothing short of energy and talent and Pop Choir love to be able to bring this to their members in their weekly sessions and one-off events. It is wonderful that the arts support each other and lift each other up and we cannot wait to Flash our voices,” Sharon and Darryl say.
Pop Choir will present their ‘& Juliet’ flashmob at Federation Square (Melbourne) on 16 April, at a time between 10:30am-11:30am.
