The Wickham, situated in the heart of Brisbane’s nightlife precinct, has been transformed into an entertainment and social hub, modernising the historic pub which has continued to evolve with Fortitude Valley.
The makeover, which has been led by architect Jon Mikulic of Newline Design, has breathed new life into The Wickham while keeping its historic charm. There’s a revamped beer garden, brand-new, fully-equipped kitchen and amenities, and two revitalised indoor spaces.
The beer garden comes with a built-in, weather-proofed stage for guests to experience outdoor acts all year round.
Meanwhile, the former Corner Bar and Studio spaces have undergone a refresh and will now be known as The Peacock Room and Garland Room respectively.
The Peacock Room is a luxurious area filled with vintage furniture and styling and will be the perfect room to enjoy a laidback drink with a group of friends. Residents will fall in love with the new giant peacock bar, which pays tribute to the Wickham’s peacock, Frankie. The space has also been filled with a curated collection of local artists' work, with a strong focus on LGBTQIA+ creators.
The eclectic Garland Room is The Wickham’s new club space, ideal for functions and for showcasing touring DJs and performers.

From Thursday to Sunday each week will be a jam-packed calendar of events including live entertainment and performances from musicians drag performers, burlesque acts and comedians.
Along with all this, of course, is a major kitchen upgrade and extensive new menu including stone-baked pizzas, vegan and share-style plates, and even dog-friendly canine faves like crispy pig skin, meat balls, gravy, and peanut butter.
Drink up! The new, expanded drinks menu includes the Disco Fruit Tingle, served in a disco ball, Glitter Bellinis with edible glitter and a tropical upgrade on a classic with the Frozen G&T, made with Malfy Gin & pineapple tonic.
“As a historic Fortitude Valley icon, throughout the revamp it was important for us to respect The Wickham’s heritage whilst bringing it into the future, and we feel we have achieved this,” Chief Operating Officer Craig Ellison says.
“We can’t wait to swing open the doors on 27 March and welcome Brisbane’s LGBTQIA+ community back to experience The Wickham’s next chapter.”
The Wickham reopens on 27 March. Reservations are open now.
