Introducing The Gold Coast Pride Collective – Heralding A New Era For The Gold Coast's Queer Community

In response to the recent closure of Gold Coast Rainbow Communities, a newly formed, not-for-profit organisation, the Gold Coast Pride Collective Inc., has been established.

Gold Coast Pride Collective

The collective will ensure continued support, representation, and advocacy for LGBTQIA+SB individuals, across the Gold Coast. It was founded with a mission to improve mental health and wellbeing within the community, and is committed to core values of inclusivity, sustainability, community engagement, transparency, and public service.

“Our community deserves consistent, compassionate support and meaningful opportunities to connect, grow, and thrive,” Gold Coast Pride Collective President Michael James says. “We’re here to listen, to act, and to empower, support and unify our community.”

The organisation will provide a range of essential services, including mental health and harm minimisation support, community engagement and education workshops, social events and inclusive gatherings, and advocacy/collaboration with other services in the community.

As part of its official establishment, the organisation has appointed Michael James as President, Dylan Rackley as Vice President, Martin Kincade as Secretary, and Steven Fahd, Dustin Lowrey, Rebecca Bateman, Lessa Katherine and Annie Fay as general board members, with a Treasurer to be appointed.

The Gold Coast Pride Collective will launch on 13 September.
