The event features music acts, drag extravaganzas, DJ sets and more, in support of LGBTQIA+ charities. Over the last 21 years, the event has grown and evolved.
Established in 2000, Big Gay Day raises much-needed funds for charity partners supporting the queer community, with last year's event raising $35,000. In 2021, the chosen charities are Queensland AIDS Council, Australian Transgender Support Association Queensland, Brisbane Pride, Open Doors Youth Service, LGBTI Legal Service and QLife.
"The event is such a fabulous celebration with our patrons and raises so much money for charities that are very close to our heart. We are excited to announce the new date for 2021 and l hope this year we will raise more money than ever before," The Wickham Hotel Venue Manager Stuart Black says.
